Take the time to Celebrate this 4th of July Orlando!
Just because this Independence Day might be under quarantine, does not mean you can’t still have a blast. 2020 has been a challenging year for the vast majority of us, and now is a perfect time to take a moment to celebrate our Nation and its citizens. And let’s face it, a lot of us could use a reason to celebrate.
To get your creative juices flowing, here are 4 great ways to celebrate this 4th of July.
Make the 4th of July a Virtual Experience
When was the last time you took a tour of some of our country’s historical landmarks? Fortunately technology allows us to do that without even leaving our homes. You can pay a visit to places like The National Museum of Natural History, The White House, The Statue of Liberty, and even NASA. Our country has a rich history, so why not take the opportunity to explore it. Maybe even give the Declaration of Independence a read.
If you’re looking for something a little more along the lines of “infotainment”, why not check out a historical movie? Pop some popcorn and watch a movie like Hidden Figures, Forrest Gump, The Patriot, or the kid-approved, An American Tale. Need more ideas? Here’s a list of 25 films that will fill you with American Pride.
Get creative
If you have kiddos at home, I’m sure they are in need of a focused project. Get them started on some Patriotic arts and crafts projects. From popsicle stick flags, and paper stars, to placemats, pinwheels and painted flower pots, there are endless possibilities. And never underestimate the joy that can be had with a sidewalk and a handful of chalk!
Inside or Outside, Organize a Picnic
Think about, the food is really half the fun when it comes to Independence Day. And no other holiday suggests “picnic” quite like the 4th. So whether you decide to spread out a blanket in the park or even in the living room, plan your menu accordingly. And if you’re in need of ideas, here are 50 patriotic 4th of July recipes for your All-American picnic.
Don’t Forget the Fireworks!
And while many firework displays sit in limbo or are downright cancelled, this does not have to stop you from picking up a few of your own fireworks and don’t forget the good old fashioned sparklers! Show the kiddos how to write their names with sparklers, record their work and share it with friends and family.
Don’t forget, there are some firework displays that will be available online from cities throughout the country, so be sure to tune in so that you can “ooooh” and “ahhhh” along with the rest of the folks that are tuning in!
This year’s Independence Celebration might be a little different than those in years past, but it doesn’t have to be any less joyous and there are still plenty of new and wonderful memories to be made. From our C. Todd Smith Law family here in Orlando to yours, enjoy a safe and happy 4th of July in whatever creative ways you choose to celebrate!
