Is beach driving worth the danger?
Growing up in Orlando, a drive on the beach was a fond memory of our family trips to Daytona Beach, Florida. It was the reason you drove to Daytona. These days, however, the risk to pedestrians, especially children, is just too great to justify driving on the beach. As Scott Maxwell argues in a recent column in the Orlando Sentinel, it’s time for Volusia County leaders to do something about driving on the beach after another child was recently killed after being run over by a car. As Maxwell points out, if the beach is our playground, why can we drive there? What do you think?
